The Weekend
Our real weekend is today, because Jimi gets to stay home from work. All morning Me and Avery have been up tidying the kitchen from weekend debauchery, starting laundry, eating breakfast. But then we hear daddy's joints pop as he comes down the stairs.
"daddy's awake!"
Avery throws the book she was reading to the side and goes to greet daddy.
So, happy weekend to us.
The calendar weekend was fun too. Grandma and Grandpa Sorensen were in town for Sammy's blessing. Grandpa was making monkey noises, and Avery thought it was hilarious.
We went back to this park to see the big horn sheep spectacle...

Maternal Instincts
So the old wives' tale that you are less sick while pregnant with a boy rings true for me. I feel terrific 75% of my day. Although it is annoying to have to eat every 2 hours (it is!...try thinking up something to eat that often when you don't feel like eating much at all). Every day about an hour or so after breakfast, me and Avery have "second breakfast". I think that is what hobbits call it. Anyway, today on our morning walk (the weather is just delightful lately), I was looking down at Avery and she was rocking Dolly and patting her back. Where did she learn this? Is it maternal instincts, or does she recall that that is how her mommy comforts her? Either way, it melts my heart. She is going to make a really good big sister.
She also plays games with Dolly, emulating how her daddy treats her. Jimi and Avery always play the "giddy up, giddy up, giddy up up up...whoa! Avery" game, you know the one? When it comes time for "whoa! Avery", Jimi turns her upside down.Well Avery does her little version of "giddy up" with Dolly. She will say "giup giup giup...whoaaaa!" and turn Dolly upside down. Again, my heart melts all over the place.

Grandma
Monday Grandma and Grandpa Larsen came to visit.
Piper has always been obsessed with Grandma, pacing in the morning, ready to get out of the room and go get attention.
But this time Avery was also in love with Grandma. She wanted to be held the whole time, and would walk over and reach her arms to be picked up. Only Grandma could put her to bed Monday night.
And on Tuesday when they left, Avery cried as they walked out the door. It was so sweet.

Reason to Not Get a Dog
Let's just say that sometimes they eat their own poop. But especially they eat their own poop when yesterday on a walk they ate an entire baggie full of something, then pooped out that baggie, then tried to eat that baggie full of something again. Ok?
I mean, I would expect that from Oakley, but...
So here are some foods that I do not want to eat at 16 weeks: cookies, Cafe Rio, granola bars, dried mangoes, pizza
Here are foods I like and maybe even crave: fajitas, chips and salsa, tacos, fruit
And I am running out of ideas for dinner. I can't think about it for too long. I don't mean to comment hustle, but what was the last thing you made for dinner? (don't bother posting if it falls under any of the "foods I don't want" list)
I asked Avery, "where's mommy's belly?" as we were taking this picture.

Clean, Messy
I like to mix it up with a little of this and a little of that when I eat.
Also, I have my Avery back. She is no longer throwing grumpy fits. It turns out she is getting some new teeth. But she is back to smiling (instead of rolling her eyes) at me when I look at her.
Her 15 month checkup yesterday tells us she is still 23 pounds! Still! So different from when she used to be a chunky little square.
