July

Beach days. We have a mandatory play date once a week, just for old times.
The teenagers are so different now.

The World Cup is also over and I don't know what to do with myself.

I loved watching games with Avery. Any game vs Norway was the best. Once USA got eliminated, we became Norway/Haaland fans. Then England/Bellingham. Then anyone who ISN'T ARGENTINA, they are the worst bunch of thugs.  We were so happy that Spain won. They are perfection. When I see a montage on the internet replaying all the highlights, I cry. It was SO FUN.

This summer is just weird because the kids are old and things are changing so fast. The World Cup was the gift I didn't know I was looking for.

Boulder Creek Falls with my gals.
We don't have a backpack trip planned this summer because of all the reasons, so these hikes are rare and precious.

One thing I will also cherish this summer are the bike rides to Semiahmoo with Avery.
I will miss her so much.

June

Remember a million years ago when it was the beginning of June and we had visitors come stay?
Jim got this classic picture of us taking a couch nap. I had to check Jamie's forehead because she kept sleeping for so long.
Anyway, I think because of this and graduation and Avery done with school on June 4th, it has felt like summer started on June 4th and so far it's been the longest summer! It's not even July yet! (It will be in 25 minutes).

Most of June has been riding bikes, training for triathlon, and watching World Cup.
Repeat and repeat.
It's a nice lazy month.

We ride all the way to Semiahmoo and buy a drink at the little cafe.
Then we go "dang now we have to climb that big hill and ride home".

Father's Day!
We drew pictures of our dads etc.
I forgot to get a dad picture with Jim and the kids.

We've spent some nights out at the fire pit. It's so great.
Don't read this next part:

We were sitting there and I farted and the little boys playing in their yard next door yelled at us
"you farted! you farted!"
haha we died laughing. They yelled at us for like five minutes.
I yelled back "everybody farts".

Usually we do activities with friends at the beginning of summer, but everyone is out of town or too old, etc.
So this year we went berry picking and to Berthesen with just our family. I loved it.
The boys are just over there wise cracking while me and Avery get to the business of picking berries.
I made jam with the leftovers.

We took our box of berries to Berthesen.
This year Andrew really wanted to play Yahtzee while we were there, so that's what we did.
Usually we mess around on the swings or walk along the trails.
This year we played board game.
haha I thought it was so fun.

One day I joined the Lochridges on a hike up Baker River Trail.

Look at this cool cave!

There is Shuckson.
So beautiful.

A mushroom clock.

To cross this creek, you could pick a log to walk across.
1, 2, 3 logs. Plus Roxanne was on a fourth log.

Last weekend I did my 16th triathlon.
Every year I am like, blah blah blah,
but then when it's over I am stoked and yes I will do it again next year.
I don't know why.

Roxanne and Vance came to watch,

and the whole family came. They are so nice.
I really truly don't think it's a big deal anymore. But they come and clap for me anyway.
It makes me blush.

Honestly the top thing - main event - most time I spend on, is watching World Cup games.
It is so fun. Three games a day is a lot of soccer!

Me and Lindsay have been going on lots of walks.
Today in the forest I hit my stick against a trunk, and a bird flew out!
I was like "whaaat?" and we looked inside to find these little eggs.
I will keep an eye on them and let you know how it goes. They are going to be tiny tiny birds!

Our main activity today, besides watching soccer,
was riding our bikes down to the C Shop.

Ice Cream!

August

This is such old news...but remember in August when we set up for the Community Block Party?
The teenagers drove around and helped and lifted heavy things while the moms bossed them around.
Boy muscles are SO USEFUL.

Then they helped clean up.

Two days later we were going to have to do it all over again for a ward party, but the Hrutfiord's house flooded, so we all helped them with that instead! I've never been more stoked for a flood. (I secretly do not love ward parties. All ten people do all the work and I'm over it.)

You know how Jim and Joe's new hobby is golfing?
Me and Lisa join - not actually golfing, but riding along in the golf cart or walking along the beautiful cart trail.
It's actually so much fun. Just do not make me ever have to golf.

Andrew's knee, all healed up.
Skin is like magic. I don't understand how it works.

More boy muscles doing diggy things. The Blacks are adding on to their garage.

Avery has started going to the chiropractor for crack-a-lacken.

I don't know if I emphasized enough how much fun these boys had at the waterslides all summer.
They just lived their best, getting so much sunshine - slash - sunburns.
This was their last day before it closed for the season.
